Working at Australian Fashion Week: My Fashion Industry Experience Through NFC
WORDS BY NFC STUDENT TUMENKHUSLEN ENKHTUR
Growing up in a small town in a country where Fashion Week doesn't exist, Australian Fashion Week always felt so far away. I spent years watching runway shows on YouTube and following fashion news online, hoping that one day I'd experience it for myself. In high school, I decided to become a fashion journalist, and this year National Fashion College helped turn that dream into reality.
Through NFC, I had the opportunity to work at Australian Fashion Week with both FARAGE and NGALI. FARAGE was my very first Fashion Week show, and I still remember how exciting it felt to be there. Working Front of House allowed me to experience the excitement and energy of Fashion Week for the first time.
Another unforgettable experience was joining the NGALI team as an assistant to founder and Creative Director, Denni Francisco. Being involved in model fittings, team meetings and backstage preparation gave me a real understanding of what happens before a runway show comes to life. It made me feel like I was truly part of the team.
One of the things I appreciate most about NFC is the Careers Team. They're always sharing industry opportunities and encouraging students to apply. I still remember receiving a text reminding me to check my emails because an exciting opportunity had come through — without that message, I could have easily missed one of the biggest highlights of my year! Looking back, it's hard to believe that something I once only watched online became part of my own journey.
