Capturing the Mood: NFC Students Bring 90s Monochrome Fashion BACK
WORDS BY NFC STUDENT, AMELIA CRILLY
Fashion has always been about more than just clothes; it's about the stories they tell. A single photoshoot can transform garments into a mood, a fantasy, and even a lifestyle that people aspire to step into.
I recently had the pleasure to work as the content creator on a project titled La Vie en Noir et Blanc "life in black and white" at National Fashion College. Alongside a creative director and stylists, we brought a 90s inspired monochrome vision to life. This wasn't just about styling black and white outfits, it was about capturing the timeless mood of the era, from bold silhouettes to raw elegance. Every detail; lighting, movement, styling contributed to building a world beyond the clothes themselves.
My role was to document the shoot behind the scenes. BTS content matters because it reveals the humanity and personality behind the final images. The laughter during quick changes, the energy on set, the tiny adjustments that bring a vision together. These moments create connection, showing audiences the real story behind the polished editorial pieces.
La Vie en Noir et Blanc reminded me that aesthetic storytelling is what makes fashion powerful. It turns a campaign into an experience, an outfit into an identity, and a photoshoot into a lifestyle. At its core, fashion isn't just something we wear, it's a story we live.
