Finding Confidence and Creativity Through My Fashion College Experience

WORDS BY NFC STUDENT INDIANA THOM

The C in NFC Can Stand for Anything — C: College. C: Content. C: Confidence.

While I would not consider myself an unconfident person, I can say with certainty that NFC has pushed me into places I may never have been brave enough to enter on my own. It has encouraged me to step beyond what feels comfortable and take opportunities that once seemed intimidating or out of reach.

Through NFC, I have been given experiences that have helped me grow both personally and professionally. From leading groups during Australian Fashion Week to creating content for brands, I have been able to experience parts of the fashion industry that I had previously only imagined. As someone who has always dreamed of becoming a content creator, being trusted to develop ideas, capture moments and represent brands has made that ambition feel far more achievable.

NFC has taught me that confidence is not always something you naturally have. Sometimes, it is built through taking risks, making mistakes, accepting responsibility and proving to yourself that you are capable. Every new challenge has encouraged me to speak up, contribute my ideas and trust my creative instincts.

For me, the “C” in NFC represents more than college. It represents content, creativity, courage, community and, most importantly, confidence. NFC has shown me that the opportunities I once dreamed about can become real when I am willing to step forward and take them.
