INSIDE YSL’S PRIVATE EVENT: HOW NFC OPENED THE DOOR TO A ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY
WORDS BY NFC STUDENT MERARI ANTONIOU
The faint buzz in my palm caught my attention, I glanced down to see Bryce's name on my phone. Logging in, I skimmed the email, and only two words leapt out at me; "YSL" and "tonight." That was all I needed. Without hesitation, I confirmed my availability and hit send, only then deciding to read the full email. It was an urgent request to assist the production team for the YSL private event that night. They needed extra hands, and although the hours stretched into the early morning, the opportunity was far too exciting to pass up.
As the minutes ticked by, all I could think was, “Did I reply fast enough? “ In situations like this, even seconds matter. I slipped my phone into my pocket and returned to my task. When the second buzz came, relief swept over me, I was in. Event opportunities like these are strictly first-come, first-served, so speed is everything. I quickly reviewed the details and set my logistics in motion.
Upon arriving, we dove straight into the work. My first task was setting up gift bags for the departing guests. Once the event ended, we switched gears to pack-down mode. I was assigned to collect, relocate, and carefully handle fragile candles and ornaments. There were countless delicate pieces, each requiring careful attention. I passed them to two team members downstairs, who removed batteries and re-packed them. Once I had finished gathering items, I joined them to help with the tedious unpacking and repacking. Before I knew it, the elaborate candle-lit dinner setting transformed back into an empty hall.
The team worked with remarkable efficiency, each of us focused on our roles. Despite the close quarters, teamwork made everything run smoothly, with everyone ready to jump in and assist when needed. As the hours stretched into the early morning, we decided as a group to resume packing the next day due to the building's closure.
The following morning, we picked up where we left off and wrapped up the final tasks by noon. The production team was incredible, dedicated, organized, and positive throughout.
Looking back, I'm so grateful I was part of the event. You never know what NFC has up its sleeve, and I’m ready for the next surprise.
