From Fashion Student to CONTENT CREATION AT CAMILLA: How I Landed My Dream Job at 18

WORDS BY NFC GRADUATE, EMERSON PARK

Three years ago, I remember sitting down during my lunch break at the NFC Sydney campus during my Year 10 work experience, dreaming about what my future might look like once I finished school. At the time, a career in fashion felt exciting but still so far away. Little did I know that just a few years later, I would be writing about how I landed my dream job in the fashion industry at only 18 years old.

I was fortunate enough to study with NFC’s online program during year 11 in 2024, taught by the incredible Caytlan. NFC gave me the flexibility to pursue my passion for fashion while balancing the demands of the HSC, which was invaluable during such a busy time. A memorable moment from my time at NFC was receiving the Future Icon Award for Digital Creator of the Year at graduation. As someone who has always been passionate about content creation, it was incredibly meaningful to have my creativity and hard work recognised by the college, one of the achievements I'm most proud of from my time at NFC.

National Fashion College helped me develop the confidence to put myself out there and take advantage of opportunities within the industry. I spoke with our Careers Advisor about wanting to gain industry experience through internships and I remember sharing a few dream brands that I would love to work with and almost immediately, opportunities started to open up. Through NFC's industry connections, I was able to secure internships with both Bec + Bridge and Peppermayo in 2025 — two brands I had admired for years, as well as working behind the scenes at Australian Fashion Week with both Viktoria & Woods and Nagnata, allowing me to gain exposure to the fast paced nature of fashion events!

While still being in Year 12 at high school, I was taking influencing and content creation more seriously. My goal was to finish the HSC and begin searching for a job that aligned with my content creation skills & fashion practices provided by NFC. Believe me, it does take time, but I committed myself to finding the right opportunity. For four months, I spent hours each week searching LinkedIn, applying for roles, networking and staying persistent despite the setbacks that naturally come with job hunting. There were moments when it felt challenging, but I knew the right opportunity would come along if I was consistent. Then one day I received a call from the CAMILLA team.

Since joining CAMILLA as their Content Creator & Social Assistant, I’ve had the opportunity to work across a wide range of areas within the marketing team. A large part of my role involves managing the CAMILLA TikTok page, brainstorming concepts with the team & filming the content to remain on top of trends. Influencer scouting also plays a pivotal part in my role, as well as caption writing and trend analysis on TikTok performance. One of my favourite aspects of the role is working with the wider marketing team, being involved in their creative discussions and campaign planning!

What makes this role even more rewarding is that it combines my two biggest passions – fashion and content creation. If there’s one thing I have learned, it is always to stay curious. Accept those internships you are nervous about, go to events where you don’t know anyone there, and most of all, put yourself out there even if things aren’t happening as quick as you would hope. Today, I get to do what I love every day, creating content for one of Australia's most iconic fashion brands and building a career in an industry I've been passionate about for as long as I can remember.

I am incredibly grateful to the entire team at National Fashion College for their support and guidance. A special thank you to Bryce, whose mentorship and willingness to provide me with valuable work experience opportunities played a significant role in shaping my career.
