From Fashion EDITORIAL Internship to Modelling Career: My Journey with Façon Magazine

When I first began my internship with Façon Magazine through National Fashion College, I expected to gain valuable industry experience behind the scenes. What I didn't expect was that it would completely change the direction of my career!

My internship placed me within the editorial team at Façon Magazine, where I had the opportunity to experience what goes into producing a fashion publication. Many of my responsibilities involved the finer details of magazine production (such as crediting editorials, researching brands, and writing blogs), I quickly realised that every task played an important role in bringing each issue to life. It gave me a greater appreciation for the work that happens behind the camera and introduced me to the incredible people who make the fashion industry what it is.

Being surrounded by creatives every day also allowed me to build genuine relationships with the Façon team; through those connections, I was introduced to Façon's modelling agency and was given the opportunity to begin modelling professionally. This had always been a dream of mine but never felt entirely within reach.

Since joining the agency, I've had the chance to participate in multiple editorial photoshoots, working alongside talented photographers, stylists, makeup artists and creative directors. Every shoot has challenged me to become more confident in front of the camera while expanding my understanding of the creative process from both sides of the industry.

One of the biggest highlights so far has been walking the runway for RAW FORM at Sydney's Oxford Art Factory. Stepping onto the runway was both exciting and surreal, and it marked a moment where I realised just how far I'd come since starting my internship.

Even more exciting, I now have another runway show approaching at Oxford Art Factory for ON CUE. Looking back, I honestly don't think I would have had the confidence to apply for opportunities like this without the experience and encouragement I've gained through Façon. Every photoshoot, casting and runway has helped me grow not only as a model but as a creative professional!

Beyond the modelling itself, one of the most valuable outcomes has been the network I've built. Through Façon, I've connected with photographers, creative directors, stylists and other industry professionals whose advice, support and collaboration have opened doors I never imagined. These relationships have become just as integral as the experience itself, reinforcing how important it is to immerse yourself in the industry and say yes to new opportunities.

Looking back, what began as an internship focused on editorial support evolved into an opportunity that has shaped my confidence, expanded my professional network and helped me achieve a goal I'd dreamed about for years. It reminded me that internships are about far more than gaining experience; they're about showing up, being curious, building relationships and staying open to unexpected opportunities.

I'm incredibly grateful to National Fashion College for connecting me with Façon Magazine and to the entire Façon team for believing in me both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Their support has allowed me to discover a passion and confidence I didn't know I had, and I'm excited to see where this journey takes me next.
