From Classroom to Stage: NFC Student Experience THE at Wanderlust True North EVENT with Jane Fonda
WORDS BY NFC STUDENT, EMMY GELARDI-BUNYI
One shift. One stage. One icon. Thanks to the National Fashion College, I had the wonderful opportunity to volunteer at Wanderlust True North, a motivational event headlined by the renowned Jane Fonda. This event blended everything that I am passionate about - fashion, creativity, wellness and purpose-driven community. It was such an honour to experience being part of this inspiring event.
I had the pleasure of assisting front of house, checking in all the VIP attendees and greeting guests into the Wanderlust space. Welcoming an inspiring mix of people and helping set the tone for their experience, alongside my fellow fashion classmates, was so much fun. It was so incredible to feel the energy of the guests, each person excited to be part of something so meaningful. After my shift I was privileged to witness Miss Fonda, the icon herself, and watch the show. Beginning with a symphonic meditation led by Tom Cronin, followed by words of wisdom, stories and inspiration from Jane; the evening was such an incredible experience from start to finish.
Fashion, to me, encompasses more than just trends and runways. It’s all about voice, identity and values - and this event embodied all of that. Jane Fonda once said, "The most incredible beauty and the most satisfying way of life comes from affirming your own uniqueness.”, this event was a reminder to celebrate individuality of fashion and purpose. Wanderlust True North - in collaboration with Jane - curated a thoughtful experience which left many uplifted and inspired.
I’m so grateful to NFC for making this moment possible. Being able to step out of the classroom and encounter real world events, fashion and fast-paced environments gave me valuable insights to how the industry really operates. This night was a glimpse into the world I want to live in - where creativity meets meaning.
